  • This is a totally different feeling that I'm walking without holding on to anything. I've walked before, but with holding on to a walker or a crutch. I'm able to just concentrate on the step without being concerned that I might topple over.

My most impactful session was the one where I first realized if I drank coffee... I was able to keep going with very few breaks. I beat my record by a lot and I didn't feel like my vision was going black and all. I felt way more alert in a way. They [my family] are very proud of me. They're really, really excited.

  • This exoskeleton is another level of technology.

We see her improve in the exoskeleton, the first time we came here, she was fully folded forward. But [now] she is able to literally stand up straight with her head.

It was very serendipitous, that’s why we’re extremely thankful to have had it, and it changed Micka tremendously.

This is a life-changing organization and piece of equipment for someone like myself who struggles with positive connotations surrounding personal disability.

I’m a wheelchair user due to cerebral palsy, and I have always longed for a piece of equipment, such as this, to enable me to walk as independently as I can.

The work Wandercraft is doing with the exo is so worthwhile, not just for its primary spinal cord injury patients but for those who long to be upright and moving, giving all such a positive sense of self.

  • Great place for PT. The staff and work out was perfect. I was upright and walking felt good to be out of the wheelchair. I felt safe and confident to work on standing and walking.

  • "I've been paralyzed from the chest down for six years. The team at Walk in New York helped me walk with their device. The team was friendly, kind, and great at the work they do. I'm grateful for my experience there. I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone who has experienced a spinal cord injury in the past."

Here's what our patients have to say about their experiences at Walk US.

PATIENT FAQs

  • How secure do you feel in Wandercraft's exoskeletons?

Do you ever feel scared that you will fall?

I never worry about falling. I have no control of my entire body and I still feel safe in it.

    Spinal Cord Injury

  • Have you noticed any changes after your sessions?

I definitely feel really tired afterwards. I feel really good. I feel like very proud of myself for doing the session and I genuinely feel like I worked out.

    Spinal Cord Injury

The enormous change has been awareness. Her leg movements have improved tremendously, and now it's easier for me to walk her at home. This has also helped her posture, full body integration of the steps.

    Traumatic Brain Injury

  • In what ways have your walk sessions been customized to you?

I use a ventilator while I do it. And one of the therapists holds the ventilator. They make sure the tube is not being pulled out by the trach.

    Spinal Cord Injury

  • How does this experience compare to other therapy experiences?

I feel like if I do it enough times, my body will get used to the pattern that it needs to walk. In the other therapy, I'm not going to walk as many steps.

    Cerebral Palsy

She’s hyper-focused with it, at other therapy, she would decide to not be available for the therapy… but I think she’s quite engaged, and I think she looks forward to it. I think it's organic with her, and I’ve only seen positive coming out of it.
